🚨 Police in Malaysia have conducted a weekslong investigation into a major child abuse scandal, resulting in multiple arrests. The 4th round of operations began on Saturday, leading to the arrest of 150 individuals linked to the organization GIs be.
👶 During the weekend raids, 187 children were rescued from care homes operated by the firm. Police Chief Razarudin Hussein reported that raids were conducted at 218 premises associated with GIs be, with many found vacated.
💰 Additionally, over 150 bank accounts linked to GIs be have been frozen, containing more than 880,000 ringgit. The suspects will remain in custody until 28 September for further investigation.
📚 Since the first round of raids, a total of 572 children have been rescued. The Social Welfare Department has established 11 safe houses for these victims, and the Education Ministry will provide formal education for them.
📖 Authorities have seized various materials, including pamphlets and books, to assess GIs be’s adherence to Islamic teachings. Initial investigations suggest there are about 10,000 followers of GIs be in Malaysia.
🏛️ The National Council of Islamic Religious Affairs will review the seized materials, and findings will be presented to the Conference of Rulers in October.
