🍵 Get out of my pub! Today on LetThemTalkTV, we flipped the script of the classic movie My Fair Lady. Instead of a Cockney flower girl learning to speak like a duchess, we have Natasha, an American duchess, learning to speak Cockney.

👋 Hello, I'm Gideon from London, and this is Natasha Abrahim from Texas, currently in Thailand. She creates content on travel and mindset.

🌍 Natasha is a digital nomad who travels and works remotely. She dreams of being a Cockney flower girl in Covent Garden.

⏳ We have 10-15 minutes to reduce her American accent and teach her Cockney. In the movie, Professor Higgins had 6 months to transform Eliza Doolittle.

🔤 We start with phonetics to reduce the American accent. For example, "car" becomes "cah" and "mother" becomes "muhthah".

📖 Key sentences to practice include:

  • The clever doctor entered the dark barn.
  • My mother's partner murdered the bird.

🎤 Next, we focus on the Cockney accent, starting with H dropping. For example, "happy" becomes " 'appy".

🗣️ Cockney expressions include:

  • Innit? (Isn't it?)
  • Ain't (I haven't done anything)
  • Blimey! (Surprise)

🎭 We performed a sketch where Natasha successfully used her new Cockney skills. She is now a flower girl in Covent Garden!

📺 You can find Natasha on YouTube at Natasha Ibrahim and on Instagram and TikTok at girl.boss abroad.

✉️ Finally, in a Cockney accent, Natasha encourages you to subscribe to LetThemTalkTV and sign up for The Rambler newsletter.
