🎭 Joker Fol Adu is a disappointing sequel that may ruin the legacy of the first film. My rating: 3 out of 10.
🤔 I had low expectations due to three main reasons:
🎬 The film feels like a waste of time, primarily motivated by the first film's box office success. It attempts to be two films in one: a plot about Arthur Fleck and a big band musical, neither executed well.
🎤 Lady Gaga's vocals are impressive, but her performance as Harley Quinn lacks depth. The script does not do justice to her character, making her seem one-dimensional.
🌟 The only redeeming qualities are Joaquin Phoenix's performance as Arthur Fleck and the film's cinematography. Todd Phillips delivers stunning visuals, but they can't save the overall experience.
⚖️ The portrayal of Harvey Dent is disappointing, lacking the essence of the character. The film tries to separate itself from the established Gotham universe, which feels forced.
🔚 The ending is particularly frustrating, with Arthur Fleck's demise feeling cheap and disconnected from the Batman universe. The film fails to justify its existence.
❌ Overall, Joker Fol Adu should not have been made. The first film stands alone as a powerful commentary on mental illness, while this sequel detracts from that legacy.
