🔍 The ERC is a student-led organization focused on sustainability, engaging in various projects and activities throughout the academic year.
📅 Upcoming events include a Sustainability Fair on October 8th and an Earth Day event in April.
📅 Founded in 1967, the ERC has a rich history, including the first Earth Day celebration in 1970.
🏛️ The Environmental Studies Department was established in 1971.
🏢 All new buildings are LEED certified, with the Spartan Recreation and Aquatic Center being LEED Gold certified.
💧 SJSU utilizes recycled water for irrigation and plumbing through a system known as Purple Pipes.
🌧️ Bio-soils and permeable pavements help manage stormwater and replenish groundwater supplies.
🗑️ The campus has a single-stream waste management system for efficient recycling and composting.
🌍 The ERC is currently focusing on sustainability month in October, with various groups researching topics like water quality and sustainability in business.
🎉 The Sustainability Fair will feature tables from various organizations, highlighting environmental initiatives.
📈 Joining the ERC helps with resume building, community service, and acquiring transferable skills.
